“How much we know and understand ourselves is critically important, but there is something that is even more essential to living a Wholehearted life: loving ourselves.”

Welcome to Cindy Trevitt’s Counselling Services located in Vancouver, BC.

Please take a moment to look through my web page and get to know a little about me then call or email me with inquiries or to make an appointment.

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist in Vancouver, BC with a non-pathologizing, psychodynamic and mindfulness-based approach for adult individuals and couples. I have been in private practice since 2005 and am available weekends.

The change you seek often occurs when you become who you really are, not whom you think you should be.

There are many tasks of therapy such as identifying suboptimal thought patterns that unnecessarily complicate your life; interpreting fragmented thoughts and words into meaningful dynamic, existential or interpersonal themes; or strengthening and co-authoring preferred narratives.

In therapy, it is possible to learn emotional resiliency: the ability to be fully attuned to your emotional state while calming the mind and maintaining a relaxed body even during stress. Discover how to strengthen the ability to be aware and accepting of your emotions without feeling reactive or a victim of your environment all while making empowered and intentional choices.

Part of change is due to new skills or insights gained in therapy. The counsellor-client relationship creates a potential for learning about the client and others in the world outside of therapy. A meaningful aim of therapy is to co-create a space to reveal and discover ones subjective, individual and unique self and all its possibilities. We also create a compassionate; befriending space for all that scares and hurts you and, together, we cultivate a greater sense of safety.

Learn how to accept the differences of others, but without suffering, and discover choices of how we relate with a focus on maintaining ourselves as whole and safe beings.

When we try to fit into society as we think we should, we are safe but replaceable and sometimes suffering with self-denial and the burdens of obligation. When we fit into the world in our own unique way, allowing for differences of others, we create a community that makes space for who we are.
