"How much we know and understand ourselves is critically important, but there is something that is even more essential to living a Wholehearted life:
loving ourselves."

Welcome to Counselling

I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist working in Vancouver, BC since 2005.

I offer counselling services to adult individuals and couples and am available weekends.

New to counselling?

If you don't already know a therapist or someone who could recommend a counsellor, it's hard hunting through hundreds of counsellors, reading about what to look for; what they offer; what they look like; where they're located; what their credentials are or how much they charge. It's like a menu with a hundred pages. It can be overwhelming.

Try picking a couple that seem most appealing to you (location, appearance, wording speaks to you) and then give them a call and ask to speak to them for a few minutes just to get a feel of their style (or email if you’re more comfortable with that). If it seems okay, you can try an appointment. All you need to know is that you feel you can talk to them and they seem to have a style that suits your needs and personality. Even if it doesn't feel like a good fit, it will help you get clearer on what you want and don't want. You can always try someone else. You aren't bound by contract. It's normal for people to work with more than one counsellor in their lifetime and it’s worth it to find the one that works for you.

Feel free to email me if you have more questions. I'm here to help.

Learn to be your authentic self - happily:

It is never too late to be who you really are or have the life you dreamed about. The change you seek often occurs when you become who you really are, not whom you think you should be. You may feel trapped in your ideas about what you cannot achieve in your life, your relationships, or your work. Often times these beliefs are irrational, unconscious or taught to you but you can find out how to replace these viewpoints with realistic and empowering ways of thinking.

What happens in counselling:

In counselling, you take the time to talk about yourself, your beliefs and your experiences and through this process you can feel an emotional release and have greater understanding of why you are the way you are. Together we unravel the causes of your anxieties, conflicts, anger, hurt, loneliness and depression and help you feel more relief, calm, and satisfaction with yourself and your life.

Counselling can help you:

What kind of counsellor am I?

I am a down-to-earth person, emotionally present, and at ease walking with you into the very darkest of places.

I value compassion and empathy as well as being actively involved in the counselling process offering thought-provoking questions, insights and meaningful alternatives.

I try to see beyond the surface into what’s really going on so, even if you can’t, I will try to help you “see” what is outside of your present scope.

Keep what you like about you and just change what you want:

I don’t believe in treating people as unhealthy, abnormal or making everyone the same – I think it’s important to keep your unique, individual self intact while working on the areas that are troubling you.
